Introducing Chelsea, my new open-eyed reborn baby doll! It's so nice to have an "awake" baby. I love Becky, but she is always sleeping! I bought Chelsea used from a collector, and am really having fun with her. She weighs a whopping 8 pounds 10 ounces and is 22 inches long. Such a big girl! And she feels SO real when you hold and carry her--just melts into your arms. She has red hair which I'm still getting used to (I think she'll be wearing alot of bonnets and hats) and hazel eyes. Her face is the "Ophelia" sculpt by Reva Schick, and her artist is Sarah Prowant. Here are a few pictures of her!
She's a little bit country, and he's a little bit rock and roll--but they're both a little bit too worthless to keep in my doll closet any longer.
I've collected these vintage Donny and Marie Osmond dolls over the years, picking them up for pennies at garage sales, thrift stores and doll shows. I have hung onto them all this time, thinking I would sell most of them at a profit. But I keep checking eBay and it seems you can't give them away--not even Donny mint in the box. Poor Donny. He and his little purple socks will soon be donated to the thrift store, along with the loose sister dolls and the extra Marie dress.
Made by Mattel in the 1970s at the height of their TV show, these dolls also had extra fashions and even a television stage playset. I think those are more valuable, but unfortunately I don't have any of them. I did come across a pile of extra Donny and Marie fashions at a doll show once, but the lady wanted over $100 for them. Oh well.
Anyway, I'm going to keep the opened set in the back, displayed on stands with a few other celebrity dolls. They are cute and fairly good likenesses of the singing duo. But it's time for the others to leave. So "goodnight, everybody!" I hope someone at the thrift store finds you and gives you a good home!

How hot is it? It's so hot that even the squirrels have no energy! We spotted this lethargic squirrel sprawled out on the bench in our back yard, his tail flat and his little front leg dangling. The first photo is through the screen so it's kind of grainy, but then I snuck around the back and tried to get another picture. Unfortunately he jumped up as soon as he heard me, and then scrambled up the tree and out of sight.
Tomorrow is supposed to be warmer than today, and Wednesday even hotter still--upper 90's! Ack! We'll see how Mr. Squirrel feels then.
